Political parties, like brands must indeed revisit their symbols from time to time in order to stay relevant.
The Congress especially.
In the newly formed India, defined largely by social subservience, a hand held up in a gesture of blessing may have been a good idea. Today, more than six decades and a history of dynastic politics later, the party needs to understand that its current symbol has the potential to rub a more equitable India the wrong way.
