As for the tambourine man, he ultimately relented, accepted the Nobel without attending the ceremony, sent in a polite speech read by the US ambassadress to Sweden and let Patti Smith sing A hard rain’s gonna fall. Smith tried to follow the dress code in her own way but I think it was the hugely pompous investiture with kings, queens and jokers in the audience and the thought of wearing a tuxedo that must have made the man think he had gone far enough.

However the true test of any brand is the recall value it creates.
The “nobel”may have created a wave or sparked off conversation for a generation of ” Dylan lovers, but in doing so has ensured that the Organization of the worlds esteemed prize ,will continue to be a highly valued “brand”.
Rebranding will not be a commonplace occurrence…kudos to the “TAMBOURINE MAN”
